Day of Remembrance for Egil Skallagrimsson

Perhaps the best known Odin's man from the Saga age. Egil was born from a line of berserks and shape shifters. Egil's life was defined by his violent outbursts, his devotion to Odinn, and his skaldcraft.

Egil rubbed shoulders with kings and queens, set up nidpoles, fought numerous battles, and was a skilled poet and rune worker. Late in life he experienced the death of his sons.... that was his lowest point. He cried out in his poem, Sonatorrek, for the loss of his son and his anger with his patron, Odinn.

Egil led a life that was well lived to say the least. For us today he could teach us much about living in the moment without fear...... he can also teach us how to combine pure brute force with a bit of common sense and quick wit. A tru Odinn's man knows this life will never be easy, but with a strong arm and quick wit a man can live a life that will be talked about around our fires for generations to come.

Hail Egil Skallagrimsson!
